A space program for 120 children from all over Russia has started in the republic.

March 31 was the official opening of the superfinal of the All-Russian program in the field of space technologies "Duty on the Planet". The shift will be held on the basis of the Talents University - a regional center for work with gifted children and youth. During two weeks 120 participants from different cities of Russia will compete for the title of the best.

The organizers of the "Duty on the Planet" program: Innovation Promotion Foundation, Roscosmos State Corporation, Talent and Success Foundation, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of RT and Talent University.

More than 10,000 applications from 89 regions of Russia were submitted for participation in the program. Participants were school and college students aged 12-17 from 33 regions of the country. The largest number of children came from Moscow, the Moscow Region and St. Petersburg.

Competitions for the 2024/2025 academic year program are in 7 areas:

  1. Space robotics - rovers
    Teams will have to develop attachments for a rover-planet rover to explore the landscape and minerals of a remote planet. The task of the rover is to find and collect minerals, bring and unload them into a laboratory module with a high-resolution camera. The resulting image of the fossils from the module will need to be processed and analyzed for various properties.
  2. Orbit - Space Pi: Space Systems and Satellite Control Applications
    The participants will have to develop a project of a scientific and technological space mission, create and test a prototype of a CubeSat in stratospheric flight, and manufacture receiving and transmitting equipment for satellite control.
  3. Space-based automatic object identification and artificial intelligence
    Schoolchildren will study the possibilities of processing different types of information, and the collected data will be used to train neural networks. At the end of the shift, the teams will create their own service for processing and visualizing satellite data. The service will make it possible to assess port congestion, collect statistical and other data, and assess environmental situations.
  4. Terra Notum
    All-Russian competition of research and project works of schoolchildren "High Pilotage", namely the direction "Satellite Engineering and Geoinformation Technologies: Terra Notum". Young engineers work with a model of the CubeSat satellite, test imaging equipment, analyze and process the obtained images with the help of AI.
  5. Digital forester
    Participants will learn about the application of space imagery and laser scanning data in forestry, familiarize themselves with drones and their payloads, and master special software. Young digital foresters will develop skills in interpretation, geo-information mapping, ecological design and working with modern forest measurement tools.
  6. Operational satellite monitoring
    The teams will have to solve a number of engineering tasks to create a real model for satellite data reception. By the end of the shift, the participants will design a working prototype of a rotating support device for a patch antenna and test their design on real remote sensing data reception.
  7. Manned Astronautics.
    As part of the shift, the participants will have to realize an experiment on the topic "Manned Space Exploration and Creating an Environment for Human Stay in Space" in the conditions of rocket flight. Teams will design and build their payload for the experiment, integrate it into a model of a launch vehicle to conduct the experiment under rocket flight conditions to a height of 1 km. Teams will compete with each other to see which of them will propose and implement a more original experiment and obtain high-quality results of the experiment, which can be used in projects on manned astronautics and creation of an environment for human stay in space.

At the superfinal, the participants have already united into teams within each competition area. During the shift they will have to solve real tasks and realize space projects under the guidance of experienced experts.

According to the results of the superfinal, the winners will receive valuable prizes from the organizers, as well as:
● additional points for the USE;
The opportunity to apply for grants from the President of the Russian Federation;
● Opportunity to participate in the programs of the Sirius Educational Center;
A chance to go to Artek.

The closing of the superfinal will take place on April 11, on the eve of Cosmonautics Day.
We would like to remind you that "Duty on the Planet" is usually held in different regions of Russia. The first shift in Tatarstan was held in 2024.
